Licensed Gas Fitter in Victoria, BC

FlameTech Heating is a licensed gas fitter serving Victoria and the surrounding area. Our gas technicians install, repair, and replace gas lines and appliances, and we work with both natural gas and propane. From a new stove to a full outdoor kitchen hookup, we get the job done safely and to code so you can get back to using your appliance.

Gas Line Installation and Repair

A new appliance often needs a new gas line. Our gas line installers run and connect lines for stoves, fireplaces, dryers, generators, furnaces, hot water tanks, outdoor kitchens, BBQs, and patio heaters. We also handle gas line repair, including worn fittings, damaged piping, and suspected leaks. Every line is tested before we leave.

Gas Appliance Hookups and Replacement

Replacing an old appliance takes more than swapping the unit. Our natural gas technicians disconnect the old appliance safely, connect the new one, and check that it works properly. We install most major brands and follow both the manufacturer’s instructions and British Columbia building codes. If your home also has a wood stove or fireplace, we offer WETT inspections in Victoria to check that it is safe to use.

Gas Appliance Maintenance and Safety Checks

A small leak or worn part is easy to miss, and it can become a safety risk over time. During a maintenance visit, our gas technicians check connections, test for leaks, and repair problems early. Regular service also helps your appliances last longer, so you can put off buying a replacement.

Gas Fitter FAQ

What does a gas fitter do?

A gas fitter installs, connects, repairs, and tests gas lines and gas appliances. They also make sure the work meets safety codes, so your appliances run safely and your home stays protected from leaks.

Do I need a licensed gas fitter to install a gas appliance in BC?

Gas work in BC has to follow provincial safety rules, and most installations need a permit. A licensed gas fitter knows these requirements and takes care of the work properly, so your new appliance is safe to use from day one.

Do I need a permit to install a gas appliance in BC?

Yes. Gas work in BC needs a permit from Technical Safety BC or, in some areas, your local government. When you hire us, we take care of the permit for you. Homeowners can apply for their own permit in limited cases, but strata owners, duplex owners, and people who run a business from home must hire a licensed contractor. Because gas mistakes can be dangerous, hiring a licensed gas fitter is the safer choice.

What is the difference between a gas fitter and a gas technician?

The two titles overlap, and people often use them for the same job. Both work on gas lines and gas appliances. What matters most is that the person working on your gas system is licensed and insured.

How do I know if I need gas line repair?

Common signs include a rotten egg smell, a hissing sound near a gas line or appliance, a pilot light that keeps going out, or a yellow or orange flame instead of a blue one. If you smell gas, go outside first, then call the FortisBC emergency line at 1-800-663-9911 or dial 911. Do not use switches or your phone inside. Once the area is safe, our gas fitters can inspect and repair the line.

Can you connect an outdoor kitchen, BBQ, or patio heater?

Yes. We connect natural gas and propane appliances, including outdoor kitchens, BBQs, and patio heaters. We can also run a new gas line to your deck or patio when you need one.

Do you also inspect wood stoves and fireplaces?

Yes. In addition to our gas services, we offer a WETT inspection for wood stoves and fireplaces. It is a good step if you are buying a home, filing an insurance claim, or adding a new appliance.

How much does gas line installation cost?

The cost depends on the length of the gas line, the type of appliance, and how easy it is to reach the work area. We provide a free estimate so you know the cost before we start.
